A potential barrier solution to mitigate RNA viral Infection.

RNA viruses , coronavirus’ enter the human body through nose, mouth, and eyes, stay in those entry areas for a while, then bind with ACE2 receptors, enters inside cells, multiplies there
and than manifest themselves.

Again, Polyvinyl Pyrrolidone
or Povidone Iodine (PVP-I) is a strong
antipathogenic agent having 99.99% virucidal efficacy in only 0.23% concentration, irrespective of RNA viruses, (in vitro).

An oro-nasal spray is designed to apply the PVP-I in nose and oral cavity to gain a protective layer or coating/barrier over nasal and oral mucosa, so that RNA viruses can’t bind with the ACE-2 receptor and thus prevent replication, infection, and transmission.

So, a diluted solution of PVP-I should be effective for prevention of triple threat infection. Moreover, as PVP-I has the ability for destruction of these RNA viruses , transmission of these three RNA viruses from patient should be reduced.

Thus PVP-I oro-nasal spray can act as
an effective shield for triple threat protection for healthcare workers, and for perspective patients.

The author proposed purchasing a certified Oro-Nasal Spray, which can be used in nose as well as throat. It’s nothing but 0.6 to 0.3% PVP-I
solution, kept in a simple nasal spray device to prevent the triple threat transmission from
patient to HCW ( health care workers), HCW (asymptomatic carrier) to common people.

Safety

The topical application of iodine (in low
concentration) intranasally for the treatment of recalcitrant chronic rhino-sinusitis has been described by the St. Paul’s Sinus Centre team in Vancouver.

They found it was beneficial for the management of this condition, but also did not lead to any result
in any demonstrable limitation of the
nasal function nor in detectable damage to the multilayer ciliated epithelium of the nose.

PPE, mask, hand sanitization or vaccines nothing proved 100% effective for triple threat viral
prevention till now.

The author recommends here, this oro-
nasal spray should be used as an adjunct to PPE, mask, and vaccine. Any person, policy maker, local or central government could adopt this safe, cheap, easily available and
effective PVP-I Oro-Nasal spray as an
additional shield for triple threat RNA viral protection and thus minimize the triple threat burden, infection.
